Southern Brooks Community Partnership

History

The Southern Brooks Community Partnership (formerly known as Patchway & Bradley Stoke Community Development Project) was set-up over 12 years ago, as a partnership between the community associations in Patchway and Bradley Stoke, and Northavon Community Council.

In 1999, the project became a registered charity and our core funding is through a service commission with South Gloucestershire Council and grant funding from both Patchway and Bradley Stoke Town Councils. The project has a management committee of Council Members and local people and we are always keen to hear from anyone who lives in the towns and would like to get involved. We are a membership organisation.

Membership is free and open individual or group that takes place in the two towns, or associate membership is available to people working for the local authority or other statutory agencies.

International Day of Tolerance - Community Lunch

For several years the Southern Brooks Community Partnership has been working with Bradley Stoke Town Council to hold regular community meals.  We try to theme the events, to bring people together around a common interest.

There were significant concerns by those working in the community about increasing levels of racial abuse.  The Partnership against Racial Harassment was also concerned at increased levels of hate crimes in and around Patchway and Bradley Stoke.  Pauline Hawker-Bond, Head of Communities for South Gloucestershire Council, agreed to Chair the event to bring people together to begin to discuss how we can work together to improve the quality of life for people in this area.
